In this tutorial, we are going to be covering what kind of wordpress sites there are, so you can set one up and follow along. The two different wordpress sites are Wordpress.com and Wordpress.org. So to start, in your web browser, go to "wordpress.com". On the front page you will see some real, live, website examples that use Wordpress. Now, by the time you are watching this tutorial, these website examples will have been updated by Wordpress.com, but observing any one of these example websites will still exemplify my point, so go ahead and click one. Ill click on this door one here. This is obviously a photographer's blog. It looks good, but I want you to notice a few things: First, it looks like a blog. Second, if we scroll to the bottom, you will see that this website is owned by Wordpress.com. Third, and most importantly, if we look at the address bar, we'll see that this site is only allowed a subdomain of wordpress.com, in the form of ___thewebsitename.wordpress.com. Let's look at another random example. We can see the same thing here. We see all of this, because wordpress.com is a service that offers cloud hosting-a server, somewhere else, that you don't have access to.
